A Door Designed Around Accessibility and Style
Overview
Overview
When our customer approached us, they had a very specific requirement: a beautiful, high-quality front door that would also provide seamless wheelchair access. The challenge was to create a solution that balanced practicality with outstanding design, ensuring easy access without compromising on appearance.
Creating an Accessible Entrance
Our first priority was to find a threshold solution that would allow smooth and effortless movement in and out of the property. After careful research, we sourced a specialist rollover threshold providing smooth accessibility.
The door itself was manufactured from Accoya timber, used for it’s durability, stability, and resistance to rot and decay. These qualities make it particularly well suited to the often damp and unpredictable Yorkshire climate, ensuring long-lasting performance for years to come.
Bringing the Design to Life
While accessibility was essential, creating a door the customer would love coming home to was equally important.
The customer shared an image of stained glass that inspired their vision. Working closely with our glazing supplier, we recreated the colours and design to produce a bespoke feature that perfectly complemented the character of the property.
To complete the look, the customer selected elegant brass ironmongery, including a letterplate, a knocker, and a handle integrated with the multipoint locking system.
The finishing touch was a dual-colour paint scheme: Rectory Red on the exterior to create a striking first impression, paired with a crisp White finish internally. The lighter interior colour helps brighten the hallway, reflecting natural light and creating a fresh, welcoming feel.
The Result
The finished door combines accessibility, durability, security, and bespoke design in one seamless solution. Most importantly, it allows the homeowner to access their property with ease while enjoying a beautiful entrance that enhances the character of their home.
The customer was delighted with the result, proving that practical requirements and exceptional design can go hand in hand.
